'Keeping Aside His IPL Form...': Ex-India Cricketer Makes Massive WTC Final Remark On Rohit Sharma

One of the key players for India in IND vs AUS WTC Final 2023 will be senior opener Rohit Sharma, who will be leading the national team after coming off a middling IPL season with the bat.

IND vs AUS WTC Final: The high-octane India vs Australia World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 match will be played from June 7-11 at the Kennington Oval in London. Last time, team India missed out on winning the WTC title after their crushing loss to Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in the summit clash. One of the key players for India in WTC Final 2023 match against Australia will be senior opener Rohit Sharma, who will be leading the national team after coming off a middling IPL season with the bat. The Mumbai Indians skipper struggled for runs in IPL 2023. He could only score 332 runs in 16 IPL innings at an average of 20.75.

The last time team India played at Kennington Oval, Rohit Sharma played a memorable century innings, helping his team attain a massive 157-run win in the summit clash. Fans are hoping for Rohit to repeat his heroics at the venue against World's No. 1 Test team and finally win his first-ever ICC Trophy as India captain.

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels Rohit Sharma should not be judged on the basis of his IPL form as even though he may not be able to score runs in IPL, but his performance in international cricket has been good. Manjrekar recalled how Rohit batted exceptionally well on a tough Nagpur pitch in Border-Gavaskar Trophy after struggling in last year's IPL as well.

Speaking on Star sports ahead of the WTC final, Manjrekar said, "Keep his IPL form aside because he looked out of form in the last IPL as well... we saw the amazing batting he did in the first Test thatch against Australia. I believe the stage of his career Rohit Sharma is in, Test cricket seems to be the most exciting format for him just like it has always been for Virat Kohli.

"His batting has become almost faultless in Test cricket at the moment. There is just one problem we have seen in Test matches - he gets out while playing the pull shot at times. They have bowled him a short ball and kept a fielder there. That is an instinctive shot.

"If you see in ODI cricket, his pull shot is extremely interesting. His back lift doesn't come from the top, so that he can play the ball down. He has a very low back lift, he just picks up the ball and the bat then goes behind his back in the follow-through to give the power," he added.
