'I Don't Push Across Kiss To My Better-Half': Ravichandran Ashwin On Being Different From Virat Kohli On Cricket Field
Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin addressed the frequent comparisons between him and batting legend Virat Kohli.
Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket, discussed the differences in his personality compared to Virat Kohli.
In an interview, Ashwin addressed the frequent comparisons between him and Virat Kohli. He also discussed how fans often perceive Virat as the fun-loving, outgoing personality, while he is seen as more serious and reserved.
Ashwin pointed out that Virat is known for expressing his love for his wife Anushka, often blowing kisses in her direction during matches. He also referred to how Virat occasionally video calls his children, Vamika and Akaay, which contrasts with Ashwin's more reserved approach.
"I wanted people to know me for who I am because, a lot of times, Ashwin’s picking up a wicket, and Virat Kohli is all over the place. He’s just jumping about, and people very often tend to believe that Ashwin’s the one who’s absolutely serious and Virat’s the one who’s having all the fun, which is why somebody asked me the question: ‘Why are you serious all the time?" Ashwin said on Sky Sports Podcast.
He continued, saying, "My answer to that, in the first place, is I’m never a serious person. But when somebody is clobbering me and I have the ball in my hand to win a Test match for my country, my mind is ticking, because I’m in the process. So, very often, you don’t see me picking up a five-wicket haul and pushing across a kiss through the blade of my bat to my better half sitting in the dressing room or in the hospitality box. I felt like a lot of who I am got diluted in the fact of what I’ve become."
In a recent interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, actor Varun Dhawan spoke about Anushka and Virat.
"It was at the Nottingham Test, when India lost. She said that she didn’t attend that game. She came back and didn’t know where Virat was. She went to the room and saw him, literally crying. He blamed himself, even though he was the highest scorer that day," the actor said.
