IND vs AUS 2nd Test: Travis Head, Australian Pacers Decimate India On Day 2 In Adelaide

IND vs AUS 2nd Test, Day 2: Travis Head and the Australian pacers handed the home side a clear upper hand over India on Day 2 of the India vs Australia 2nd Test at Adelaide.

IND vs AUS 2nd Test, Day 2: Australia gained a certain upper hand over India on Day 2 of the India vs Australia 2nd Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Travis Head continued his daunting form against India and brought up his eighth Test century and second against India in Tests. He scored 140 runs off 141 balls and helped Australia gain a healthy firsth-inning lead of 157 runs. The Aussie pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland bowled good lines and lengths and reduced India to 128-5 before Stumps were called on Day 2 of Adelaide's pink-ball Test.

Australia began Day 2 with their overnight score of 86-1. Jasprit Bumrah didn’t take long as he struck early and removed Nathan McSweeney for 39 runs. Steve Smith continued to struggle and Bumrah bagged his wicket for the third time in as many innings in this series so far as he got out for 2 runs. Marnus Labuschagne ended his poor run of form with the bat as he scored 64 runs before being dismissed by Nitish Reddy. Travis Head, however, continued his purple patch and scored a breathtaking 140-run knock, handing Australia a significant lead before India bundled them out for 337.

Leading by 157 runs, Australian bowlers were precise in their lines and lengths as batting became tougher under the lights at Adelaide. Pat Cummins dismissed KL Rahul for 7 runs and Scott Boland picked up a wicket on the very first ball of his spell as he sent Yashasvi Jaiswal back in the hut. Virat Kohli nicked one to keeper Alex Carey off Boland’s bowling while Shubman Gill looked in fantastic touch.

However, Mitchell Starc after going wicketless in his first spell, bowled a peach of a ball to clean up Gill and hand India another blow. Captain Rohit Sharma too could not get going as Cummins bowled him for 6 runs. India ended the the with 128-5, still trailing Australia by 29 runs. Rishabh Pant remained not out on 28 runs while Reddy made an unbeaten 15 runs.
