IND vs AUS 2nd Test: Labuschagne, McSweeney Lead Australia's Fightback; Hosts Trail By 94 At Day 1 Stumps

The decision to bat first on a bowler-friendly wicket has left India in a precarious position.

IND vs AUS Adelaide Test Day 1 Highlights: Day 1 of the second Test between India and Australia ended with the hosts trailing by 94 runs, thanks to a resilient stand by Marnus Labuschagne and McSweeney. After Khawaja's dismissal by Jasprit Bumrah, the pair held firm, denying India any further breakthroughs. With the game finely poised, all eyes now turn to Day 2.

India vs Australia Pink Ball Test in Adelaide began with an unexpected decision by Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Winning the toss, Rohit chose to bat first on a pitch known for assisting pacers early on—a choice that proved costly as India's batting lineup faltered.

India bowled out for 180 runs on day 1 of Adelaide Test

The decision to bat first on a bowler-friendly wicket has left India in a precarious position. With Australia now in the driver's seat, Indian bowlers face an uphill task to bring their team back into the game.

India's innings began disastrously when Mitchell Starc sent Perth Test's centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal back to the pavilion for a golden duck on the very first ball. KL Rahul, despite showing some promise, departed after scoring 37 runs, leaving India in trouble early.

India's middle order couldn't stabilize the innings as Shubman Gill (31), Virat Kohli (7), and Rishabh Pant (21) struggled to convert their starts. Captain Rohit Sharma, returning to the lineup after missing the series opener, managed only 3 runs.

Rising young star Nitish Kumar Reddy emerged as the top scorer for India with a determined 42 runs, while Ravichandran Ashwin contributed 22. With little support from the rest of the lineup, India was bowled out for 180 runs in just 44.1 overs.
