IND V ENG: Watch how Pujara's wife celebrated as he was saved by DRS
New Delhi: If couples are made in heaven; then Cheteshwar Pujara and his wife Puja are a prime example of that. Cheteshwar Pujara might have been batting in the middle against Stuart Braod and company but his wife Puja was living every moment, watching him from the stands. She cheered his boundaries, she gasped when Stokes hit Pujara on the helmet. But the best moment came when Pujara was batting on 86, nearing his 9th Test century and his first in front of his home crowd. Left-arm spinner Zafar Ansari came on to bowl the 71st over the third delivery almost broke the heart of Indian fans and especially his wife Puja’s, who was watching anxiously from the stands.
Pujara was adjudged leg before wicket by the on-field umpire Chris Gaffeny, but the local boy decided to review it. The replay showed the ball was going over the stumps and the decision had to be overturned.
To everyone’s surprise the best reaction came from the stands as Mrs. Pujara jumped in joy, showing no intentions of holding her emotions back. After all, her husband had another life and a century to score.
Much to the delight of Mrs Pujara, Cheteshwar Pujara did go on to score his century. This time around Puja’s celebration was measured, clapping and cheering for her husband as he scored consecutive Test centuries. Pujara had scored a 103* in the last test against New Zealand.
In reply to England’s mammoth 537 in the first innings India are going strong thanks to twin centuries by Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara.
The Decision Review System, which is making its debut in India has come off as great helping hand for India so far.
