ICC World Test Championship: England Climb To 3rd Spot After 2-1 Series Win Over Windies
England's 2-1 win also meant that the Joe Root-led team leapfrogged New Zealand to the third spot in the ICC Test Championships. The series win takes England's points tally to 226 points, only behind second ranked Australia (296) and the table toppers India, who stand atop the table with 360 points.
Hosts England registered a crushing 269-run win over West Indies in the third and final Test of the 3-match #raisethebat series that concluded on Tuesday at the Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester.
The 2-1 series Test win over the Windies also meant that England also clinched the Wisden Trophy and lay their hands to the cherished piece of silverware. The chief architect of England's dominant win was frontline speedster experienced seamer Stuart Broad, whose 10-wicket haul wrecked through the Windies batting lineup all through the Test.
Broad, declared the man of the match and the series for his bowling heroics, also attained a major personal milestone as he became only the 7th bowler in Test cricket to scalp 500 wickets. He joined his long time seam bowling partner James Anderson in an elite list of bowling greats.

After setting Windies a daunting 399-run target, England bowled out the visitors for a paltry 129 runs in their second innings to seal an emphatic 269-run win in the series decider and clinch the series 2-1.
While Broad returned with match winning figures of 10-67 , seam all-rounder Chris Woakes played his part in the win too, picking up a five wicket haul to torment the Windies in their final batting essay.
After Windies resumed on their overnight score of 10-2, Stuart Broad scalped opener Kraigg Brathwaite to get to 500 dismissals in Test match cricket.
Wicket-keeper batsman Shai Hope and Shamarh Brooks put in a brief resistance of sorts before Woakes dismissed them both to leave the Carribean team reeling at 79-5. A needless run-out of all-rounder Roston Chase was followed by Woakes cleaning up the Windies tail, trapping all three tailenders - Jason Holder, Shane Dowrich and Cornwall leg-before wicket.
England will now lock horns with Pakistan in their next Test engagement with a 3-match series getting underway with the series opener in Manchester from August 5, followed by the remaining two matches in Southampton.
