IND Vs NED: List Of Records Shattered By India During Their Huge Victory Against Netherlands

IND vs NED, World Cup 2023: Centuries from Shreyas Iyer (128*) and KL Rahul (102) saw India post 410/4, recording its second-highest score in a World Cup match.

India secured a resounding victory over the Netherlands in their ninth and final league stage match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, defeating them by 160 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. During their dominant performance, the Men in Blue shattered a number of milestones ahead of their semi-final clash against New Zealand. 

Half centuries by Rohit Sharma, Shubhman Gill and Virat Kohli followed by centuries from Shreyas Iyer (128*) and KL Rahul (102) saw India post 410/4, recording its second-highest score in a World Cup match. In response, the Dutch team lost wickets at regular intervals and were dismissed for 250 runs in 47.5 overs. 

In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets apiece while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma scalped one wicket each.

This triumph marked India's ninth consecutive win in the ODI World Cup 2023, setting a record for the longest winning streak by an Indian team in a single edition of the tournament.

Several records were broken by Indian players during the historic victory over the Scott Edwards-led Netherlands side:

  1. KL Rahul set a new record for the fastest century for India in ODI World Cup history, achieving the milestone in 62 balls.
  2. KL Rahul became the second Indian wicketkeeper-batter, following Rahul Dravid, to score a century in the ODI World Cup.
  3. KL Rahul also achieved the highest number of runs (347) as a wicketkeeper-batter for India in a single edition of the ODI World Cup.
  4. Rohit Sharma became the first Indian captain to win nine consecutive matches in a single edition of the ODI World Cup, surpassing the previous record of eight straight wins in 2003 under Sourav Ganguly.
  5. The top five batters of the Indian team scored 50 or more runs in an innings, a first in the history of the ODI World Cup.
  6. Rohit Sharma became the first batter in ODI World Cup history to score 500+ runs in consecutive editions and the second Indian batter, after Sachin Tendulkar, to achieve this feat in two World Cups.
  7. Rohit set a record for the most sixes in ODIs in a calendar year, hitting 60 sixes in 25 ODIs played in 2023.
  8. Rohit's 503 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 broke Sourav Ganguly's all-time record for the most runs as an Indian captain in a single edition of the tournament.
  9. Ravindra Jadeja claimed the most wickets as an Indian spinner in a World Cup edition, dismissing 16 players in nine matches.
  10. Shreyas Iyer achieved his career-best ODI score, remaining unbeaten on 128 runs from 94 balls against the Netherlands.
  11. Shreyas Iyer became the first Indian batter to score a century against the Netherlands in ODIs.
  12. Shreyas Iyer secured the most runs (421 in nine matches) for India as a middle-order batter in a World Cup edition.
  13. The partnership between KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer (208 runs) set a new record as the highest partnership for the fourth wicket in World Cup history.
  14. India's total of 410-4 stands as their second-highest in ODI World Cup history and the highest in matches played on Indian soil.
  15. Ravindra Jadeja's 16 wickets in nine matches in the ODI World Cup 2023 established a new record for an Indian spinner.
  16. Netherlands all-rounder Bas De Leede broke his father Tom De Leede's record by taking 16 wickets in nine matches, surpassing the previous mark of 14 wickets in 14 matches for the Netherlands in ODI World Cup history.

Looking ahead, Team India are set to face two-time losing finalists New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 on November 15 (Wednesday), at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
