ICC Test Rankings: Harry Brook Dethrones Joe Root As No.1 Batter, Travis Head Returns To Top 10 After Adelaide Heroics

ICC Test Rankings: Harry Brook is the new number 1 batter in Tests as he has dethroned teammate Joe Root. Australian batting maestro Travis Head has broken back into the top 10 after Adelaide heroics.

ICC Test Rankings: England's star batter Harry Brook has claimed the No.1 spot in the latest ICC Test Batter’s rankings. Brook has been in top form during the ongoing New Zealand vs England Test series, smashing two centuries and a fifty in three innings. In the recent NZ vs ENG Test in Wellington, he scored 123 and 55 across two innings. Meanwhile, Joe Root, despite scoring a century in the second innings, lost his top position in the rankings and is now placed at the second spot.

Harry Brook matched Sachin Tendulkar's achievement with 898 rating points, securing the 34th-highest rating ever for Test batters. 25-year-old Brook surpassed Root after his eighth Test century in the Wellington Test last week and now has a narrow one-point lead over Root, who has 897 rating points. Root had maintained the top spot since July this year, when he overtook former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for the No.1 position.

Harry Brook has been a standout performer in Test cricket, amassing 2280 runs in 23 matches at an impressive average of 61.62, including eight centuries. This year alone, he has accumulated 1099 runs in 11 Tests at a staggering average of 61.05, featuring four centuries.

Australia's star batter Travis Head and South Africa captain Temba Bavuma have returned to the top 10 in the ICC Test Batters rankings after delivering impactful performances for their respective teams.
