In the ongoing first Test against England, Ben Stokes won the toss and asked India to bowl first. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja orchestrated a mesmerizing display of spin bowling, getting the visiting side all out for 246 runs in their first innings.
The formidable Indian spin duo picked three wickets each, surpassing the legendary pair of Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble to become the Indian bowling duo with the highest combined wickets in the history of Test Cricket. Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel contributed with two wickets each to bolster India's dominant performance with the ball.
In the second innings, India reached 367/7 and lead England by 121 runs. Ravindra Jadeja remains steady at one end, even as India finds themselves seven wickets down. A poor shot from KL Rahul resulted in him falling short of a potential century, departing for 86 runs.
Promising talent Yashasvi Jaiswal (80) also missed his chance at a hundred. Following Jaiswal's dismissal, Hartley secured his maiden Test wicket by removing Shubman Gill (23), while Rehan Ahmed accounted for Shreyas Iyer's (35) wicket.
