‘Bowl 4th-5th Stump Line…’: Himanshu Sangwan Reveals How Bus Driver Advised Him To Get Virat Kohli Out In Ranji Match

Railways' Himanshu Sangwan, who shot to fame by taking Virat Kohli's wicket, reveals a bus driver's advice to dismiss Kohli in the Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match.

Himanshu Sangwan grabbed all the spotlight after dismissing Virat Kohli during the recently-concluded Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Kohli’s highly anticipated return to domestic cricket after 12 years attracted a massive crowd in Delhi, but fans were stunned and left disappointed as he was dismissed for just six runs by Sangwan in the first innings. Delhi did not bat again as they eventually won the match by an innings and 19 runs, meaning Kohli could only bat once.

Although his team faced a defeat, Himanshu Sangwan grabbed the headlines by clean-bowling the legendary Virat Kohli. Himanshu tested Kohli with a few deliveries outside off before getting him out with a swinging inswinger that sent his stumps flying.

Bus Driver Told Me To Bowl 4th-5th Stump Line: Himanshu Sangwan

After the match, Sangwan shared that everyone had faith in him to get Kohli out in the match. However, in a surprise revelation, he also mentioned that it was the bus driver, who was transporting the players, who advised him to bowl outside off to Kohli.

"Before the match, there were talks about Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant going to play for Delhi. At the time, we didn't know that the match would be aired live. We slowly learned that Rishabh Pant wouldn't play, but Virat would, and the match would be streamed live. I am leading the Railways' pace attack. Every team member told me that they thought I would dismiss Virat Kohli," Sangwan told The Hindustan Times.

Sangwan shared that the bus driver suggested bowling at the fourth-fifth stump line to get Kohli out.

"The bus in which we were travelling, even the bus driver told me that you know that you need to bowl at the fourth-fifth stump line to Virat Kohli, and then he will get out. I had self-belief. I just wanted to focus on my own strengths rather than someone else's weaknesses. I bowled to my strengths and ended up getting the wicket," he stated further.

"There was no specific plan for Virat Kohli in general. The coaches told us that the players from Delhi like to play attacking cricket. They are all stroke players. We were told to bowl a disciplined line," said Sangwan.
