'He's A Legend..': Yashasvi Jaiswal Fanboys Over Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli became the first batter to score a century in his 500th international match on Friday.
Star India batter Virat Kohli is widely regarded as one of the modern day greats of the game. While his purple patch lasted longer than most players' do, he has now overcome his lean phase stronger than most players as well. On Friday, the right-handed batter got to his first away hundred in Test match cricket in five years when he breached the three figures mark in the second India vs West Indies Test at the Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad.
Despite it taking such a long time for Kohli to get to a century (121) outside of India in the game's longest format, it is pertinent to note that this was his 76th international hundred, a stat enough to show why he is counted by many as among the all-time greats. And now, Kohli's teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal who is taking his initial strides in international cricket has heaped praises on the former India captain. Jaiswal, playing his second Test match, said that considers himself blessed to be playing alongside someone of the stature of Kohli. He even rated the senior batter as a legend.
"It's always great to watch him (Virat Kohli) bat and bat alongside him. He's a legend and I'm blessed to play with him. It's wonderful to go out with him and learn from him. There is a lot to learn from him, to keep watching what he does outside the field and on the field. It's a pleasure to talk to him and learning from him," Jaiswal said after the end of the day's play.
While Kohli became the first batter in the world to score a hundred in his 500th international match, Jaiswal too has had a great start to his international career, scoring a daddy hundred (171) on his debut and following it with a half-century (57) in his second Test innings.
