Gautam Gambhir Dressing Room Row: Gautam Gambhir has taken the cricket world and internet by storm, as the Indian team head coach has reportedly lost his temper during a dression room discussion and team session.
As reported by Indian Express, Gautam Gambhir is disappointed at the fact that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) turned down his wish of including Cheteshwar Pujara in the Indian squad for the Boder-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series in Australia.
"With the Indian team sinking further into the quagmire after losing the 4th Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, it has been learnt that head coach Gautam Gambhir wanted veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara in the team only for the suggestion to be shot down by the selectors. The Indian Express’ Sriram Veera, Devendra Pandey and Venkata Krishna B reported on Wednesday that after the Melbourne loss, the India dressing room has descended into chaos with Gambhir having had enough of the recent subpar performances, delivering a brutal assessment of the players," reported The Indian Express.
Such is Pujara's class that his presence used to scare Australia, and one such example is that of Josh Hazlewood. Th legendary Australian pacer stated back in November 2024 that he is delighted India did not select Cheteshwar Pujara for the BGT 2024-25, for the fact that he was the biggest game changer during India Vs Australia matches.
"I am pretty happy that Puj (Pujara) isn't here. He's obviously one that bats time, makes you really earn his wicket every time, has done really well on Australia on all these tours. So there's always young, fresh guys coming into the Indian team. They are so much under pressure to perform in the Indian team with so many nipping at their heels all the time. Whoever they pick in that XI, they are unbelievable players," said Josh Hazlewood, as reported by The Indian Express.
