New Delhi: Veteran cricketer Gautam Gambhir has taken the heat down between the rumors surrounding his relationship with M.S Dhoni, by lauding the former Indian skipper as one of the best to have led India.

In an interview to Cricinfo, Gambhir said, “Back in 2007 when I played the T-20 World Cup under M.S, I closely examined his methods and that was enough for me to believe that he would go a long way.”

“He thinks a lot before making any decision. He backs all his players and that is why he has been able to lead the team for such a long period of time and that is why he is considered as one of the best ever Captain’s in the history of the Indian Cricket” added the 35 year old.

The former skipper had been accused by many, for axing Gambhir from the Indian Cricket team and the whole issue had seemed to have brought a rift, between the two.

Gambhir who featured for India in 58 Tests, 147 ODI’s and 37 T-20I’s hasn’t been a frequent squad member of the Indian Cricket team since the 2011-12 tour to Australia.
