Former India Cricketer Comes In Support Of Suryakumar Yadav, Know What He said
In the third ODI that took place in Chennai, Surya was asked to bat at number 7 after failing at number 2 in the first two ODIs.
Former legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh has come in support of Suryakumar Yadav after he registered three back-to-back ducks in the recently passed ODI series against Australia. In the first two ODIs, the Mumbai-based batter was snared by Mitchell Starc while in the third ODI, he was cleaned up by Ashton Agar.
“Every sports person goes thru ups & downs in their career! We’ve all experienced it at some point. I believe @surya_14kumar is a key player for India 🇮🇳 & will play an imp role in the #WorldCup if given the opportunities,” tweeted Yuvraj Singh.
In the third ODI that took place in Chennai, Surya was asked to bat at number 7 after failing at number 2 in the first two ODIs. But then the change in batting position did not work out for the Mumbai-based batter.
“Let’s back our players coz our Surya will rise again.”
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also backed Surya and said, “We don’t know about (Shreyas) Iyer’s return. At this time there is a spot available so we have to play him (Suryakumar). He has obviously shown a lot of potential with white ball and I have said it many times before (that) guys with potential will be given some run”.
“He only played three balls in three (games) this series. I don’t know how much to look into it. He got three good balls, to be honest.”
Earlier, cricketer turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar also spoke about the same. He said that he is hopeful that Surya will come back in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, and from there onwards he Will carry the same form for India also.
"He has just got to understand that this can happen to the best of players and it has happened to the best of players. So I think, all he has got to do now is focus; forget these 3 matches and focus on the IPL, get runs over there. Once he gets runs in the IPL, he will come back confident for the next one-day game," Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
The Mumbai-based batter also joined the unwanted list of players who have been dismissed on ducks for three times in a trot, including Sachin Tendulkar (1994), Anil Kumble (1996), Zaheer Khan (2003-04), Ishant Sharma (2010-11), Jasprit Bumrah (2017-2018).
