After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Gill announced that India would include T20 World Cup winners Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson in the playing 11, with Khaleel Ahmed replacing Mukesh Kumar. IPL stars Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, and Riyan Parag were omitted from the 11.
