In IND vs ZIM 3rd T20I, Gill's decision to field four openers and exclude Riyan Parag has sparked discussion. Parag, who managed only 2 runs in the 1st T20I and didn't bat in the 2nd, was omitted from playing 11 in 3rd T20I. Abhishek Sharma, who excelled with a century as an opener in the 2nd T20I, was moved down to number three as Gill opted to open the batting himself.
Here's how fans reacted to Gill's captaincy tactics...
Once Shubman Gill Said, he want to bat at 3 because he loves to bat at 3. That time Rohit Sharma was Captain and Gill was about to drop from team.

Today he doesn't want to play at 3 although we have 3 better options including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj… pic.twitter.com/uNkXzOy1aI

Now when there was an opportunity, instead of demoting himself at that position, he pushed down the centurian Abhishek Sharma.
That seems a very SELFISH captaincy.
There's nothing wrong if Shubman feels like promoting himself as opener, says one fan on X
Don't understand why people are losing cool once Shubman Gill decides to open the inning.

Abhishek Sharma already got a brilliant 💯 in the last game and if Gill feels opening is the best slot to get back in form then there is nothing wrong in this. pic.twitter.com/DfBiQVR6J5
Shubman Gill's decision to open the innings alongside Jasiwal paid off as he played a captain's innings, scoring 66 runs off 49 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
