Stokes nearly made the visitors pay with one-for-the-ages knock but eventually became a victim of Josh Hazlewood (3/80), falling for 155.

England fails to break 39-year-old jinx at Lord's

Since 1984, no team has ever chased down a 300-plus total at the Lord's. The last team to do this was West Indies, when in the year 1984 they had chased a total of 342 runs to defeat hosts England by nine wickets, courtesy of a match-defining knock from 'Player of the Match' Gordon Greenidge (214 runs in 242 balls).
