ENG vs AUS, 2nd Ashes Test: Archer Trolled Heavily on Social Media Over Laughing After Hitting Smith With brutal bouncer

The Barbadian-born English speedster was seen laughing with his teammate Jos Buttler while the medical staff attended to the injured Steve Smith.

There was a moment of stunned silence in the 2nd Ashes Test between England and Australia at Lord's when Steve Smith was struck by a lethal bouncer bowled by Jofra Archer. After Smith laid flat beside the pitch after being hit by a 148.2 kmph bouncer by Jofra Archer, the jam packed audience at Lord's hoped that the hit had not caused much damaged to Australia's batting lynch-pin. Amid growing signs of worry and concern for Smith, Jofra Archer behaved in a very unassuming manner which did not go down well with the cricketing fraternity and he was trolled heavily on social media over his deplorable act. The Barbadian-born English speedster was seen laughing with his teammate Jos Buttler while the medical staff attended to the injured Smith. Archer didn’t even extend the courtesy of checking whether Smith was injured or not after hitting him on his neck with the brutal bouncer. While some of the social media users termed Archer as ‘classless’, many were left angry by how Archer dealt with the situation. The incident wasn't a pleasant sight by any means and brought back the haunting memories of the past when Australian batsman Phil Hughes collapsed face-first on the ground after being hit by a bouncer from Sean Abbott during a Sheffield Shield game between South Australia and New South Wales. Hughes was wearing a helmet but the ball struck him at the top of the neck, causing the fatal injury. The Australian international passed away a couple of days after the incident.
