ENG vs AUS, 1st Ashes Test: Burns Joins Elite Batsmen List Who Have Batted All 5 Days Of Test Match
Burns who scored just 11 runs on the final day of the Edgbaston Test, became only the 4th England player to have batted on all 5 days of an Ashes Test.
England opener Rory Burns, who registered his maiden Test century against Australia in the opening match of the ongoing Ashes series, could not contribute much to his team's cause in the 2nd innings but still got his name into the record books for the 2nd time in the match.
Burns who scored just 11 runs on the final day of the Edgbaston Test, became only the 4th England player to have batted on all 5 days of an Ashes Test.
Burns is the fourth English player to join the list. Apart from him, the other England players to do so are Geoffrey Boycott, Allan Lamb and Andrew Flintoff.
In all of Test history, Burns is now the 10th player to have achieved this rare feat, joining the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Andrew Flintoff, Kim Hughes and others who have also managed the feat once in their careers.
If one were to consider only English batsmen, Burns is the 4th overall to have batted on 5 days of a Test after Boycott, Allan Lamb and Flintoff.
