DPL 2025: Digvesh Rathi Bags Mega Deal - Bigger Than IPL!

Digvesh Rathi has secured a lucrative contract in the latest DPL 2025 auction.

Delhi’s rising spin sensation Digvesh Rathi made waves with his stellar performance for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025, impressing fans and critics alike with his mystery spin.

However, it wasn’t just his bowling that caught attention—his flamboyant celebration style also created buzz, leading to a one-match suspension during the season.

Rathi, who initially rose to prominence after a breakthrough campaign in last season’s Delhi Premier League (DPL), has now secured a lucrative contract in the latest DPL 2025 auction.

He was picked up by South Delhi Superstarz for a whopping ₹38 lakh, making him the second-most expensive player in the auction — a figure that surpasses his ₹30 lakh IPL contract with LSG.

DPL Payday Surpasses IPL Earnings

Rathi’s strong IPL 2025 showing — 14 wickets in 13 matches with an economy rate of 8.25 — generated massive interest ahead of the DPL auction. Franchises were keen to sign him, including Old Delhi 6, but the South Delhi outfit emerged victorious in the bidding war.

The 23-year-old played his last IPL match in May against Royal Challengers Bangalore and ended his debut DPL season with 14 wickets in 10 games, maintaining an economy of under 8 — underlining his growing consistency across formats.

Simarjit Singh Tops the Auction

Out of the 520 players up for bidding, Simarjit Singh emerged as the costliest player, bagging a ₹39 lakh deal with Central Delhi Kings. Singh had been the leading wicket-taker in the previous DPL season.

Also featuring in the auction were notable domestic stars like Nitish Rana, who was bought by West Delhi Lions for ₹34 lakh, and Prince Yadav, who fetched ₹33 lakh from New Delhi Tigers.

The DPL 2025 auction has not only reflected the growing stature of the league but also highlighted the increasing value of emerging Indian talents like Digvesh Rathi, who continues to rise rapidly through the domestic cricket ranks.
