Dislocated shoulder puts Jhye Richardson's World Cup participation in doubt
Richardson dislocated his shoulder after landing awkwardly on his bowling arm in an athletic attempt to stop a boundary during the 11th over of Pakistan's innings.
A dislocated shoulder ruled out Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson from the Pakistan series and has put serious question marks even in his World Cup participation.
In the 11th over of the match, Richardson fell awkwardly on his right shoulder in an attempt to save a boundary during the 2nd ODI against Pakistan at Sharjah and immediately signalled for medical attention. He was helped off the field by team doctor Richard Saw and was seen sitting in the team dugout with a brace on his arm.
Richardson, who had struck twice with the new ball – first cleaning up Imam Ul Haq for a duck and then getting Shan Masood chip one to mid-wicket - to leave Pakistan in a spot of bother at 35/2, will not be able to take any further part in the match.
However, the bigger cause of concern for Australia would be the World Cup. As per the latest developments, there are chances of Richardson being sidelined for several weeks. With the World Cup in England only a couple of months away, the Australian think tank would be on the edge of their seats.
Richardson has had a breakthrough summer at international level, making his Test debut in January while pushing himself towards a World Cup berth with a series of impressive ODI bowling performances.
