Dhoni performs a new-perfect split to save his wicket against Australia

MS Dhoni saved his wicket by performing a near-perfect split against Adam Zampa during the 2nd India vs Australia T20I Bangalore.

MS Dhoni rendered everyone speechless by stretching over 2 meters in his attempt to get back to the crease during the second T20I against Australia at Bangalore on Wednesday.

Playing only the second ball of his innings, Dhoni tried to skip down the track to put Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa off his length in the 12th over of the Indian innings. But young leggie was smart enough to throw it wide. Having no chance of making contact with the ball, Dhoni got back to his crease in a fashion only he could do.

Instead of taking a quick backward step, Dhoni stationed his front foot and stretched his back leg back in the crease before Australian keeper Peter Handscomb took the bails off.

Dhoni’s stretch, marginally short of being an accurate split, later on, was measured to be of 2.14 meters.

This was not the first time the former captain had showcased his flexibility. Dhoni had stretched his backfoot back in the crease for the first time in a T20I against New Zealand in 2017. That time the bowler was left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner.
