Cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy Loses Mother & Sister To Covid In 2 Weeks, Rahane, Bhogle Send Condolences
Veda Krishnamurthy is a woman cricketer who has represented India in 48 WODIs and 74 WT20Is. She lost both her mother and her sister to Covid-9 in a span of two weeks.
Bengaluru: The whole world seems to have come down on cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy as she loses her mother and sister in a span of two weeks to Covid-19. The news comes on Thursday, 6 May 2021. Earlier on 24 April 2021, she lost her mother to the deadly disease.
Veda Krishnamurthy is a woman cricketer who has represented India in 48 WODIs and 74 WT20Is. She debuted in 2011 at the age of 18 against England in Derby. Two weeks back, after the demise of her mother to Covid-19, she had written: "Appreciate all the messages I have received about the loss of my Amma. As you can imagine my family is lost without her. We now pray for my sister. I have tested negative & appreciate if you can respect our privacy. My thoughts & prayers go out to those going through the same!!"
Many around the cricketing fraternity were shocked on hearing the news. Cricketer Ajinkya Rahane and commentator Harsha Bhbogale expressed their condolences: "So sorry to hear about your loss @vedakmurthy08. Sending prayers to you and your family," wrote Rahane.
A few days back, the woman cricketer was seen spreading awareness about Covid-19 and urging people to forward only verified links for helping the Covid-19 patients. She wrote: "Completely agree !! There is already a state of panic everywhere !! Let’s not make it more difficult for people who are seeking for help !!"
Veda Krishnamurthy is known for her finishing skills with the bat. This dual loss would take a toll on the cricketer.
