On 1st Day As BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly Wears Same Blazer He Wore As Indian Captain
"I got this (blazer) when I was the captain of India. So, I decided to wear it today. But, I didn't realize it's so loose," Ganguly said with a smile.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly was unanimously elected as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president in Mumbai on Wednesday. Moreover, Ganguly did a first of sorts as he became the first cricketer in 65 years to assume the top office as full time president of the Indian cricket board.
While addressing the media for the first time after taking over as BCCI President on various hot topics that ranged from his top priorities for Indian cricket to MS Dhoni's future, Dada stole the attention of many present at the occasion with his blue blazer that held a special significance.
Interestingly Ganguly, while taking charge as the BCCI president, wore the same blue blazer he got as India captain. "I got this (blazer) when I was the captain of India. So, I decided to wear it today. But, I didn't realize it's so loose," Ganguly said with a smile."I got it when I was captain of India, so I decided I would wear it but I did not realise it is so lose. But I got this when I was captain so I decided to wear it today," Ganguly told reporters after formally taking over as the new boss at the apex body's Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai.
Ganguly is likely to serve only 9 months as BCCI president as the "Cooling Off" period clause in the new BCCI constitution makes it mandatory for board officials to step down after 6 years in office. Ganguly, who played 113 Tests and 311 one-day internationals and led India to 21 Test wins, has already been an administrator for his home state association, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). "I will do it my way. I will do it the way with no compromise on credibility, corruption-free and same-for-all BCCI. That's the way I led India and that's the way I will take this organization forward.Mr. @SGanguly99 officially assumes office as President of the BCCI 📸📸 pic.twitter.com/D5rt6gTaA5
