AUS vs SL 1st Test: Australia are set to take on Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series, followed by a two-match ODI series. With Pat Cummins unavailable, Steve Smith is set to captain Australia. Australia will come into the Test series on the back of an incredible 3-1 victory over India Down Under, where they confirmed their qualification to the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final.
Australia have a few changes to their squad for the Test series, which is expected to be played on rank-turners. Australia, without the services of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood, have included all-rounder Sean Abbott. Former Australia U19 Cricket World Cup captain Cooper Connolly has earned his first Test squad call-up, while Nathan McSweeney has also been recalled after missing the Melbourne and Sydney Tests in the recent Border-Gavaskar Series. Spinners Matt Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy also make a return for the tourists.
