Asia Cup 2023 Points Table: Pakistan Become First Team To Qualify For Super Fours After Match Against India Gets Called Off

Asia Cup 2023 Points Table: Pakistan are sitting at the top of Group A while Sri Lanka are at the top of Group B.

Asia Cup 2023 Points Table: While there was a lot of excitement for the India vs Pakistan Group stage clash at the Palleleke International Stadium on Saturday (September 2), the match eventually had to be called off due to rain. India elected to bat first and managed to post 266 before persistent rain did not allow Pakistan's run chase to begin.

While at one stage there was an inspection by the on-field umpires as the rain had stopped and the Indian players were seen warming up, however, rain returned after which it was a frustrating end which ended in the match being called off and the two teams being awarded a point each. That has made things interesting as far as the Asia Cup 2023 points table is concerned.

Pakistan have become the first team team to qualify for the Super Fours stage of the continental tournament after they got a point from this match. They now have 3 points from 2 matches as they had already registered a win over Nepal in their tournament opener. On the other hand, India also have 1 point from 1 match and are at the second place in Group A. Nepal having lost their first match to Pakistan find themselves languishing at the bottom of the points table.

The top two teams in Asia Cup 2023 points table qualify for Super Fours and Pakistan have guaranteed themselves that with that win. India, meanwhile, need to beat Nepal in the final Group A match which is scheduled to be played at the same venue on September 4. The winner will join Pakistan as the second team from the Group to proceed further in the competition.

As far as Group B is concerned, Sri Lanka is currently sitting at the top of Asia Cup 2023 Points table in that group. They have played and won 1 match. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are at the rock bottom of that group after having lost that match. Afghanistan are yet to play their first match and are at the second place as of now in Group B with 0 points.
