AUS vs WI 2nd T20I: Alzarri Joseph Survives As Australia Fail To Appeal For Run Out, Video Goes Viral

AUS vs WI 2nd T20I: While the Australians celebrated Alzarri Joseph run out after seeing the replay on the big screen, the umpire stuck to his decision of "not out".

In a rather bizarre moment during the 2nd T20I encounter between Australia and West Indies at the Adelaide Oval, the umpire's decision to overrule a run-out appeal against Alzarri Joseph has sparked controversy. The incident unfolded in the 19th over of the match, creating heated discussions among players and fans alike.

Alzarri Joseph, who was batting at the time, found himself in the midst of the controversy when Joseph was short of the non-striker's end. However, to the surprise of many, the umpires ruled in favour of Joseph, declaring him not out based on a rather unusual reason.

The confusing scenario unfolded in the dying stages of the second innings. Joseph, attempting to secure a quick single, sprinted towards the non-striker's end after deflecting a delivery by Spencer Johnson towards the covers. However, even as Tim David's throw caught Joseph short of his crease with help from Spencer Johnson, the batter was deemed not out by the on-field umpire Gerard Abood. The reason he cited was that there was "no appeal" from the Australians.

While the Australians celebrated after seeing the replay on the big screen, the umpire stuck to his decision of not out even as David insisted he appealed. There was some exchange between the players and the umpire before David was heard saying: "This is ridiculous".  Australian captain Mitchell Marsh was also involved in the heated exchange.

Glenn Maxwell's Ton Guides Australia To Series-Clinching Win

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell's hundred steered Australia to a 34-run victory over West Indies in the second of the three-match T20I series. The result means the Aussies have now taken an unassailable lead in the three-match series. Riding on Maxwell's 120*, Australia posted 241/4 before restricting the opposition to 207/9. The final match of the series will be played on February 13 (Tuesday).
