Akash Deep and Travis Head were involved in a funny exchange early on Day 5 (Wednesday, December 18) of the third IND vs AUS Test in the Border-Gavaskar series Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. Akash Deep apologized to Travis Head after defending a flighted delivery from Nathan Lyon, unintentionally causing a funny misunderstanding.
Akash and Bumrah resumed India’s innings on Day 5 from the overnight score of 252-9. While Pat Cummins bowled the final delivery of the incomplete over, Nathan Lyon bowled the first over of the day. The humorous exchange between Akash and Head occurred when Lyon bowled a flighted delivery, and Akash defended it by pushing his leg out, causing the ball to get stuck on his pad. Instead of handing the ball back to Travis Head, who was nearby, Akash dropped it in front of him on the ground. The action left Head irked, who had to bend to get hold of the ball after he motioned for the ball, prompting Akash to realize his mistake. He quickly apologized, saying "Sorry, sorry!" with a sheepish grin, which helped ease the tension and turned the awkward moment into a lighthearted exchange between the two players.
