Sakat Chauth 2025: Sakat Chauth is observed on the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Magh. It is considered the significant Chauth of the year. Worshipping Lord Ganesha on this day removes all obstacles and troubles.

This year, Sakat Chauth will be celebrated on January 17, 2025. It is also known as Tilkuta Chauth, Vakratundi Chaturthi, and Maghi Chauth in India. Some special materials are required for the celebration, and without them, the worship is considered incomplete.

Sakat Chauth Pooja Materials

  • Statue of Lord Ganesha, wooden platform, yellow or red cloth
  • Sacred thread (Janeu), henna, sindoor, rice, turmeric
  • Betel nut, betel leaf, cloves, roli
  • Sesame seeds, betel, Aarti book, 21 knots of Durva grass
  • Cow ghee, flower garland, cardamom, gulal 
  • Gangajal, red flowers, sacred thread, Itr), abir
  • Special materials: Sesame seeds, Durva grass, yellow or red flowers, prasad made from sesame seeds

Why Sesame Seed Prasad Is Offered On Sakat Chauth?

On Sakat Chauth, women observing the fast prepare Tilkuta as an offering to Lord Ganesha. This is believed to make Lord Ganesha pleased and help remove household troubles, as well as financial, mental, and physical difficulties. Hence, it is customary to offer Tilkuta prasad to Lord Ganesha on this day.
