Significance Of Offering Coconut
Offering coconut on Bhai Dooj has great significance in Hindu tradition. Coconuts are considered as a symbol of purity, prosperity, and protection. Sisters show love and affection by giving coconuts to their brothers, and also pray for their happiness and prosperity. It is believed that the act of offering coconut removes negative energy and brings good luck to the family.
Furthermore, the coconut's hard shell represents the challenges and obstacles in life, while the sweet water inside symbolizes the rewards of overcoming these difficulties. Thus, gifting a coconut reflects the desire for a strong, supportive relationship and the hope for a prosperous future for both siblings.
