Delhi: Minor raped in Vasant Kunj; Family members clash with police

Engraed family members and locals demanded the accused be handed over to them to ‘teach him a lesson’. They clashed with policemen and also pelted stones at them. Over a dozen policemen were injured in the melee.

"Later at night he attacked the victim when she had gone out to relieve herself at a secluded place near the forest. When the victim fell unconscious, he dumped her in a pit," the officer said.

"During interrogation, it was found that Prakash on Wednesday noon also attempted to kidnap the victim but failed after her mother raised alarm," news agency IANS quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police Devendra Arya.

Police identified the accused as Prakash, 24, a resident of JJ Cluster in Rangpuri Pahadi located in Vasant Kunj. He arrested with the help of local surveillance.
