CMF is the affordable sub-brand by Nothing and like the parent company, CMF's first phone, the CMF Phone 1 was launched in India on Monday amid a lot of hype. CMF Phone 1 comes with a polycarbonate back panel with a matte finish. It gives the impression of a faux leather back, but it is plastic. This design language sets it apart from many modern smartphones with sealed bodies.

CMF Phone 1 demonstrates that CMF is dedicated to presenting a fresh take on smartphones. One of the distinctive features of this smartphone is its detachable rear panel. To remove the back panel, users need to remove four screws, a process that typically takes a few minutes.

The device's audio capabilities are relatively basic. It lacks advanced sound technologies such as Dolby Atmos.

The CMF Phone 1 comes preloaded with Android 14. The OS is custom Nothing OS 2.6. As of its release, the device features the May 2024 security update.

The Nothing CMF Phone 1 includes an always-on display (AoD) feature, which lets users view important information without fully activating the screen, but the customisation options are somewhat limited. The primary rear camera delivers satisfactory results for most situations.

The 5000mAh in the CMF Phone 1 matches its counterpart in the Nothing lineup, the Phone 2a.
