With the Scorpio N moving up-market, fans of the current Scorpio have not been disappointed since Mahindra announced from the start that they will continue to sell the current one. Up-front the Scorpio Classic gets a new look front with a new grille while also getting the new Mahindra SUV logo seen on the Scorpio N and XUV700. The headlamps are new along with new DRLs, skid plate, fog lamps, and even a new front bumper. The changes do freshen up the Scorpio a lot. (Photo: Somnath Chatterjee)

From the side, you will see new dual-tone cladding while there are also new 17-inch diamond cut alloys. We would have liked bigger wheels but the wheels are better looking than the earlier Scorpio wheels. The rear maintains the classic Scorpio tail-lamp but gets the tail-lamp lighting pattern from the earlier Scorpio to sort of relive the classic Scorpio look. You can spec the Scorpio Classic with a captain seat option in the middle row as well while there is a 9-seater option too. There is a new diesel engine on offer with the new motor from the Thar which is lighter and gets better low-end torque too along with the promise of lower NVH. It makes 130 bhp and 300Nm while only a 6-speed manual is standard with shorter throws. The changes will keep the loyal fanbase of the Scorpio Classic happy while the Scorpio N clearly has the modern interior plus more engine options while for the price, the current Scorpio will have its own appeal due to the toughness.
