WATCH: 'We Demolished Babri Masjid, I Was Prepared For Death Penalty', Says Jai Bhagwan Goyal After Being Acquitted
Jai Bhagwan Goyal Goyal said he was not tensed during the hearing instead said devotees of Lord Ram are happy that the temple is being built and that's what matters.
Babri Masjid Demolition Case: A CBI special court on Wednesday acquitted all 32 accused in the 28-year-old Babri Masjid demolition case citing lack of evidence and observing that demolition of mosque was not pre-planned. Among the accused is 62-year-old Jai Bhagwan Goyal, who was Shiv Sena’s north India chief at the time of demolition but is a BJP member now.
Outside the courtroom, Goyal said, “I was not tensed, even if the court would have given death penalty, I would have accepted it...Nation is happy, Ram bhakts are happy that the temple is being built that's all we wanted.”
The demagogue politician while speaking to ABP News after being acquitted kept reiterating that he and his supporters had razed the Babri mosque and was prepared to face death penalty. " If we wouldn't have brought it down, Ram mandir wouldn't have been built again." He, however, thanked CBI for letting him off but also challenged the agency to approach higher courts. " We will face them in Supreme Court as well. CBI is not bigger than the apex court."
Goyal said celebration broke out in the courtroom after the verdict and everyone chanted "Jai Shri Ram" slogans in the premises.
"Our next agenda is Mathura and Kashi," he bragged.
Special CBI judge S.K. Yadav, in his verdict, said that the demotion was not a planned incident but a spontaneous act.
The case lasted for 28 years and the 32 accused included former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, former Union Ministers M.M. Joshi, Uma Bharti, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, among others.
