Sex Scandal Rocks Thailand: Woman Seduces Monks, Extorts Rs 100 Crore By Blackmailing With Over 80,000 Nudes

A woman named Wilam Emsawat, aged 30 years, was arrested at her luxury home in Nonthaburi, just north of Bangkok. She is facing charges of extortion, money laundering, and receiving stolen goods.

A major sex scandal has shaken Thailand after a woman was arrested on Tuesday for luring Buddhist monks into sexual relationships and then blackmailing them for money. According to NDTV report, the case has drawn public attention, as it involves monks.

The Royal Thai Police Central Investigation Bureau said that at least nine abbots and senior monks involved in the scandal have been disrobed and cast out of the monkhood.

A woman named Wilam Emsawat, aged 30 years, was arrested at her luxury home in Nonthaburi, just north of Bangkok. She is facing charges of extortion, money laundering, and receiving stolen goods.

According to an NDTV report quoting police, the woman had had sexual relations with at least nine monks. The police, after seizing the woman's phone, have found messages and intimate videos involving other Buddhist leaders. They discovered that she had used the blackmail money to spend on illegal online gambling.

The investigators, according to BBC, believe that Wilawan made about 385 million baht (Rs 102 crore) over the past three years. The police said that they found over 80,000 photos and videos of her engaged in sexual acts with numerous Buddhist monks in her home, which were used to blackmail monks.

According to a report by the Daily Star, Emsawat claimed that she had a child with one of the monks. Police said that the case came to light in mid-June when an abbot in Bangkok left monkhood suddenly after being blackmailed by the woman. Police say that he left to escape the blackmail by Emsawat, and now she claims that the monk is the father of the child.
