Trump lambastes Pakistan, Clinton as 'fools' over Osama Bin Laden; Imran Khan hits back
Targeting Pakistan Trump said, ‘we no longer pay Pakistan the billion dollars because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example, Afghanistan being another.'
New Delhi: US President Donald Trump on Monday continued his tirade against Pakistan and lambasted his predecessor administration and Pakistan as “fools”. He slammed Pakistan for never telling the Americans about 9/11 terrorist Osama Bin Laden’s presence and instead harboring him for long. He also targeted the then American President Clinton for missing his shot at eliminating Bin Laden despite the fact that Trump pointed Laden in his book just before attack on the World Trade Center.
Trump took to Twitter and wrote: “Of course we should have captured Osama Bin Laden long before we did. I pointed him out in my book just BEFORE the attack on the World Trade Center.”
“President Clinton famously missed his shot. We paid Pakistan Billions of Dollars & they never told us he was living there. Fools!”, he tweeted.
Targeting Pakistan he said, ‘we no longer pay Pakistan the billion dollars because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example, Afghanistan being another.
He said: “They were just one of many countries that take from the United States without giving anything in return. That’s ENDING!”
Trump’s tweet came after he had blasted Pakistan in an interview broadcast by Fox News while defending the cancellation of the 1.3 billion aid to the country.
Trump had defended his administration's decision to stop hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Pakistan for not doing enough to curb terrorism and criticised Islamabad for offering a hideout to Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in the garrison city of Abbottabad.
Beginning with a tweet on January 1, the US President has announced stop giving military and security assistance to Pakistan.
Trump believes that the Pakistan has been a reluctant partner of the US in the war against terrorism and that it has misused the US money. Trump insisted that Bin laden should have been captured long time back before he was killed in a daring raid in Abbottabad.
Hours after Trump’s tweet Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted his reply. He replied that Pakistan has suffered enough fighting US’ war and now it will do what is best for its people and interests.
“Trump’s false assertions add insult to the injury Pak has suffered in US WoT in terms of lives lost & destabilised & economic costs. He needs to be informed abt historical facts. Pak has suffered enough fighting US's war. Now we will do what is best for our people & our interests”, he wrote.
