Mamata Banerjee To Be Sworn In As West Bengal CM For Third Time On May 5 At 10.45 AM At Raj Bhawan

Mamata Banerjee is set to swear-in as Chief Minister of West Bengal on Wednesday, May 5. The ruling TMC won the West Bengal assembly elections, pocketing 213 of the 292 assembly seats that went to polls over eight phases and secured a third straight term in office. 

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is set to swear in as Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third consecutive term. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 5 at 10.45 AM at Raj Bhawan. 

It was revealed earlier that Mamata is will meet Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar at 7 pm on Monday after which, her party would take a call on the oath-taking and Cabinet formation in the evening. She has been unanimously elected as the leader of the TMC Legislative Council.

As scheduled, Mamata Banerjee arrived at Raj Bhavan in the evening to tender her resignation as the Chief Minister to Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.

On Thursday, May 6, all council of ministers will be administered oath by Protem speaker Subrata Mukherjee. Later, Biman Banerjee will take over the charge as the Speaker.

The ruling TMC led by Mamata Banerjee won the West Bengal assembly elections, pocketing 213 of the 292 assembly seats that went to polls over eight phases and secured a third straight term in office. 

According to the final results announced by the Election Commission, TMC's main challenger Bharatiya Janata party bagged 77 seats under its belt, emerging as the main opposition party in the state. 

Meanwhile, Mamata has once again alleged manipulations in the counting votes and said that she will approach the court over alleged 'mischief' in the Nandigram seat where she lost elections to her ex-aide Suvendu Adhikari.

On Sunday, the tide turned in favour of Suvendu Adhikari in the evening as he trumped Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee by a margin of 1,953 votes. While addressing the media, Mamata Banerjee conceded defeat and said that she has accepted the verdict of the people.
