Manik Sarkar, the Opposition leader of Tripura and former Chief Minister was attacked with stones in Tripura. According to sources, Sarkar along with CPI(M) MLAs and leaders at Shantirbazar, South Tripura were allegedly attacked with stones pelted by the BJP supporters on Monday.
A delegation of CPI(M) MLA and leaders went to shantirbazar to visit the houses of CPI(M) supporter, who were brutally attacked and their houses were ransacked by the BJP supporters on 5th may after they observed Karl Marx's birthday.

Party alleged that the police forces were found silently standing during the incident.
BJP MP from West Tripura constituency tweeted saying that the attack on leader of opposition in state is unfortunate.
CM Biplab Kumar Deb has constituted an Enquiry committee under South District SP to look into this matter and submit the report within 48 hrs.
This is not the first time that such incidents of violence have taken place in Tripura.
