Volkswagen Launches New Black & White Edition Polo, Ameo, Vento

New cosmetic updates like leatherette seat covers, body graphics, a black roof and more for no extra cost for the new limited edition models.

Volkswagen has launched new limited edition iterations for the Polo, Ameo and Vento called the Black & White Edition.

Volkswagen has launched new limited edition iterations for the Polo, Ameo and Vento called the Black & White Edition. These new edition models feature a host of black and white cosmetic updates at no extra cost over the variants these are based on. In the case of the Polo and Ameo, the Black & White edition is based on the top-spec Highline Plus variant. However, with the Vento, it’s offered on the second-from-top Highline variant. These are the prices for the new Black & White Edition models: *All prices, ex-showroom pan-India Let’s take a quick look at what’s different in the Black & White Edition cars:

• New ‘Deep Black’ body colour for the Polo and Vento
• Black painted roof and ORVMs
• Roof edge spoiler (Polo)/ Rear trunk spoiler (Ameo and Vento)

• Chrome ’Black & White’ badge on the front fender
• Body Decals
• 16-inch alloys

• ‘Black & White’ leatherette seat cover

In terms of features, the Black & White Edition does not bring anything new to the cars which are based on already well-equipped variants. Comfort features like auto AC, cruise control, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Volkswagen Connect as well, are common to all the three cars. The same goes for safety features like dual front airbags, ABS, Hill hold and ESP (AT only) and rear parking sensors, but a rear parking camera is only offered on the Ameo. Volkswagen has made no mechanical changes to these Black & White Edition cars. As such, the Polo continues to be available with a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine which produces 76PS and 95Nm, along with a 1.5-litre diesel engine with an output of 90PS and 230Nm. Both these engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. These powertrains are shared by the Ameo sub-compact sedan, but the same diesel unit is tuned to produce 110PS and 250Nm with the option of a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission as well. Meanwhile, the Vento compact sedan which is also based on the Polo hatchback is offered with three different powertrain options. The diesel option is the same as the Ameo - 1.5-litre engine making 110PS and 250Nm with either a 5-speed MT or a 7-speed DSG. Volkswagen offers the Vento with two petrol engine powertrains - a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mated to the 7-speed DSG, making 105PS and 175Nm, and a 1.6-litre engine mated to 5-speed MT, producing 105PS and 153Nm.
