UM Commando Classic Carb Variant Launched At Rs 1.95 Lakh
- At Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the carburetted variant is Rs 5,000 cheaper than its fuel-injected twin
- It shares the same 279.5cc motor, but makes around 1.45PS less power than the fuel-injected variant
- The Commando Classic Carb variant retains the same bodywork and underpinnings as the fuel-injected cruiser
UM Motorcycles has launched a carburetted variant of the Commando Classic priced at Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While there’s no official word from the manufacturer, we expect to see the carb variant in a matt black paint scheme, much like its siblings. Apart from the inclusion of a carburettor and a plausible colour update, the bike remains unchanged.
Powering the bike is the same 279.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, albeit with a carburettor. While the fuel-injected variant produces 25.15PS of power, the carb-equipped cruiser churns out a slightly lower figure of 23.7PS. However, it manages to churn out an identical torque figure of 23Nm.
Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Anchoring the bike is single 280mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear. Although ABS has been given a miss, we can expect UM to introduce the essential safety net pretty soon considering the fact that all bikes above 125cc will need to be equipped with at least a single-channel unit post April 2019.
Though the UM Commando Classic Carb variant hasn’t reached dealerships just yet, we could expect to see them in the next couple of weeks. Much like the fuel-injected variant, the carb-equipped cruiser too will compete with the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and the Bajaj Dominar 400 despite bearing a more premium price tag than the other two. We’ll soon be updating this space with the booking amount and delivery dates for the bike, so keep your eyes peeled for more information.
