TN: 19-Yr-Old Woman Arrested Under POCSO Act For Marrying and Sexually Assaulting Minor
When the police started the search, the woman surrendered in the police station with the boy. Later, the minor was handed over to his parents.
Chennai: In an uncommon incident, a 19-year-old woman was arrested by Pollachi All-Women Police Station for allegedly marrying a 17-year-old and "sexually assaulting him" in a rented home in Coimbatore under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act based on a complaint from the victim's mother. According to reports, the woman from Netaji Road in Pollachi was working in a petrol bunk and the minor was a regular customer.
However, a year ago, the woman reportedly fell in love with the boy but the two of them were from different communities and she was older than the minor. Yet, the woman decided to marry the minor by eloping without the knowledge of their parents.
On Thursday, the woman took the boy to Palani in Dindigul district and illegally married him. Both of them rented a home in Semmedu, the outskirts of the Coimbatore district. Later, the police said that the woman sexually assaulted the boy in the home, as per a report on the Times of India.

However, learning about the incident, the mother of the victim filed a complaint in Pollachi All Women Police Station. When the police started the search, the woman surrendered in the police station with the boy. Then, the minor was handed over to his parents.
However, as the mother refused to get back the complaint, the police registered a case under charges of aggravated penetrative sexual assault and punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assualt under POCSO Act. Later, the police produced the woman in a POCSO Court and remanded her in judicial custody.
