Suspended For Checking PM's Chopper, Karnataka IAS Officer Md. Mohsin Under Spotlight For Praising Tablighis
Karnataka government has served a show cause notice to Karnataka IAS officer Mohammed Mohsin to explain his tweets that he shot off in April praising Tabligi Jamaat participants amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
Karnataka IAS officer Mohammed Mohsin, who was barred last year by the Election Commission for getting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's chopper checked, has again got himself under the spotlight for praising Tablighi Jamaat participants and detracting a section of the media in his recent tweets.
Taking to his personal Twitter handle on April 27, Mohammed Mohsin said, "More than 300 Tablighi Heroes are donating their plasma to serve the country in New Delhi only. What about? #Godi Media? They will not show the works of humanity done by these heroes."
Following the development, the Karnataka government has served a show cause notice to Mohsin, currently secretary of Backward Classes Welfare Department. Mohsin, who frequently tweets article and views critical of the government, has been given five days to respond to the notice, which was issued on April 30.
Failing to respond to the notice will be presumed that he does not have a defence to offer for his tweet and action will be taken against him as mandated by the rules.
30% of Coronavirus cases in the country have been traced to Tablighi Jamaat congregation held in March in Delhi. Thousands, including foreigners, gathered at the 100-year-old mosque complex near Nizamuddin locality, with hundreds also staying in a six-floor dormitory on the campus. After attending the event, several members travelled across the country, with many of them carrying the virus. This surged the number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
