Banking Fraud: The country's largest lender has shared a 52-second video clip stating how users have faced numerous frauds ranging from ATM cloning, fake messages to fake calls and much more.
Nowadays, fake messages and alerts related to your debit and credit card transactions have become a routine posing threat to the security. It is therefore crucial to keep a check and adopt practices that can prevent such frauds. In line with the risks associated with misuse of cards, State Bank of India (SBI) has issued safety tips on the usage of credit card and debit card as financial safety has become incredibly crucial. While sharing the safety tricks, the country’s largest bank said, "With every increasing menace of fraudsters and their innovative ways to scam people, financial safety has become incredibly crucial. Here are some safety tips on the usage of credit card and debit card."
The bank has shared a 52-second video clip stating how users have faced numerous frauds ranging from ATM cloning, fake messages to fake calls and much more. The bank has also given some tips for safe debit/credit card usage.
Make sure to follow the tips below to ensure safe debit card usage:
What you should do?
1) Make sure that you check on the debit/credit card during usage and ensure to take it back after usage.
2) Ensure there is no discrepancy between the transaction SMS details and actual transaction.
3) Normally, users in a hurry often ignore to dispose the receipts and statements after ATM transactions. Make sure you tear the receipts before you leave the premise.
What you should not do?
1) Always keep an eye in the surrounding while transaction in a merchant store and never allow merchants to store your card information.
2) No matter what never share your CVV and PIN with anyone.
3) Also, remember not to leave your credit card or debit card with anyone
4) Moreover never share cards details with others.
"If you notice any suspicious transaction then notify the policy immediately or visit your branch or register a complaint on this, https://cybercrime.gov.in/" SBI added.
The largest lender of the country keeps sharing tips of safe banking practices with its customers.
Earlier the bank has apprised its customers to keep unique internet banking passwords and also make sure it is not names of their family members. Besides, it also warned customers to keep their banking details confidential. "SBI will never call or e-mail you to share any such details. Stay alert, bank safe." SBI had tweeted.
Introducing a new feature for the customers' safety, the bank had noted every time a receive for balance enquiry and mini statement through ATM is requested, it will alert customers by sending an SMS so that they can immediately block their debit card if the transaction is not initiated by them.
