Renault Triber Global Unveil On June 19

Renault promises that the Triber will be the most spacious offering in the sub-4m segment

Renault has announced that it will pull the wraps off the Triber in India on June 19. The carmaker says the Triber will feature a unique body style which cannot be simplified into regular categories. While the air around the Triber’s body style is still unclear, the spy images point towards a hatchback with MPV traits. The Triber will be stacked between the Kwid and other Renault products like the Duster and Lodgy. The sub-4m vehicle will be underpinned by a new platform which is expected to be a derivative of the Kwid-s CMF-A unit. The Renault Triber will feature a modular cabin, so it could offer seating for more than five occupants. A foldable third row is also likely, which could further be utilised for storing luggage. Renault claims the Triber will offer segment-best cabin space. The spy shots we have seen so far hint that the Triber will feature projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, 15-inch wheels, dual tone black and beige interior layout finished in chrome and silver touches, a touchscreen infotainment along with four airbags option. Under the hood of the Renault Triber is expected to be a turbocharged iteration of the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol motor on the Kwid. However, the possibility of a naturally aspirated version of the same to power lower variants cannot be ruled out. Another contender to power the Triber can be the 1.2-litre petrol doing duties on the Nissan Micra and the Datsun GO. Just like the Kwid, Renault may bring a manual as well as an AMT gearbox to choose from. With the BS6 emission norms looming large, the Renault Triber might give the diesel mill a skip. The Renault Triber’s prices could range in the Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh bracket. It won’t have any direct competitors but the French carmaker might pitch it as an alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Datsun GO+.
