'She Hasn't Received Any Invitation': RIL Says Reports Of Nita Ambani's Appointment As Visiting Faculty At BHU Are Fake
Reliance Industries Limited in a statement on Wednesday said that the reports making claims that Nita Ambani will join the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as a visiting faculty, are fake.
Reliance Industries Limited on Wednesday junked reports which claimed that Indian philanthropist Nita Ambani will join the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as a visiting faculty.
RIL in a statement said that the reports making such claims are fake as Nita Ambani hasn't received an invitation from BHU.
The company's statement came a day after several university students protested against the proposal to make Reliance Industries executive director Nita Ambani as a visiting professor. As per the reports, several students even sat outside the VC's residence to mark their protest.
The students said that those who have set an example of women empowerment should be invited and demanded that the University should not be "privatised".
"Ambani is a woman entrepreneur. If she joins our centre, the women of Purvanchal will get the benefit of her experience," Prof Nidhi Sharma, coordinator of the Centre for Women’s Studies and Development said, as reported by PTI.
Meanwhile, the dean of the university reportedly told the protesting students that no such decision has been finalised yet.
The protest broke out after reports surfaced claiming that Ambani received a proposal from the university to join as a visiting professor. She was reportedly asked to join BHU's Centre for Women Development and Studies in a bid to help uplift the living standard of women in the Purvanchal area of Uttar Pradesh.
