Mann, in a video message, said that education was like a third eye, which widened the perspective of an individual. “But it saddens me that education is out of reach of the common man. People want to give their children a basic education, but the high cost is an impediment,” he said.
On Tuesday, he said he was working to make Punjabi University free from debt so that it regains its glory as a seat of higher learning. "I guarantee to make Punjabi University free from debt so as to regain its pristine glory as a seat of higher learning in northern India," said Mann.
"All pending issues of school and college teachers would be resolved soon. Our youth will get enough opportunities to exhibit their capacities and capabilities in the state so that they could become ideal citizens of society," he added.
In Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party came to power by winning 92 out of 117 seats. First, he promised to build schools in Punjab on the lines of Delhi. He also announced that 35,000 temporary employees of Group C and D will be regularised.
The Punjab chief minister in a tweet mentioned, "We have decided to make 35,000 temporary employees of Group C and D permanent. I have directed Chief Secretary to end such contractual and outsourcing recruitments."
Mann was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab on March 16. Since then he has been making big announcements for the state. First he announced to bring applications for 25 thousand jobs in Punjab. He then launched the WhatsApp number against corruption.
