Speaking at a public rally ahead of assembly elections in the Union Territory, the Union Home Minister said the Congress leader was on vacation when the NDA formed the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 2019.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his repeated gaffe on no dedicated ministry to deal with the issues of fishermen.
While campaigning for the Assembly elections in Puducherry’s Karaikal on Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader criticised the former Congress chief for not knowing that a fisheries department came into existence two years ago.

Speaking at a public rally ahead of assembly elections in the Union Territory, the Union Home Minister said the Congress leader was on vacation when the NDA formed the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 2019.
Questioning Rahul Gandhi's capability to govern the Puducherry, Shah said, "The Congress is alleging that the BJP brought down their government here. I want to ask the people of Puducherry, the party whose leader has been in the Lok Sabha for four terms, he does not even know that the fisheries department has been in the country for two years. Can that party be responsible for welfare of Puducherry?"
His reaction has come days after Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi during an interaction with the fishing community in Kollam's Thangassery on February 24 said - "Like farmers do farming on land, you also do farming in the sea. There is a ministry in Delhi for farmers and not for you.
He reiterated a similar gaffe in Puducherry this month and assured of setting up of a separate ministry for fisheries.
