'One Nation, One Mobility Card': PM Modi Launches NCMC. Know Benefits Of The Card

Known as the ‘One Nation One Card', the inter-operable transport card, will enable passengers to make payment of multiple kinds of transport charges, including metro and bus services, through a common card.

The idea of a single card to fulfill all your travel needs has become a reality now! Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for the Delhi Metro on Monday. The newly launched NCMC card comes under PM Modi’s ambitious Digital India initiative to push the country towards being a cashless economy. Now, the commuters in the Delhi Metro will have an all new travel card that is all-inclusive. Also, note it not a regular metro card. The new card is valid for the Delhi Airport Express Line that runs from New Delhi to Dwarka Sector 21, and is 23 km long. It is an automatic fare collection system, and you can use your mobile phone to use metro services. Apart from this, the new card can also be used for bus services, and is a common card that is known as the ‘One Nation One Card’. The inter-operable card is a blessing for travellers who use public transport on a daily basis.  In fact, the card will allow you to pay for parking charges, retail shopping, toll taxes, and even for withdrawing money. Who can use it? The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that passengers from any part of the country will now be able to travel on the Airport Express line using this card.  NCMC will allow passengers carrying a RuPay debit card issued in the last 18 months by 23 banks to swipe for Metro travel. “This facility will become available on the entire Delhi Metro network by 2022,” a DMRC spokesperson said. The user will have to contact the bank to get the RuPay One Nation One Card with National Common Mobility Card support. What are other advantages? One of the many advantages of the card is that it will allow you to enter and exit the metro lines with the help of your phone. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has earlier stated that the facility to use the mobile phones to enter/exit the automatic fare collection (AFC) gates are present in many countries across the world, including South Korea's Seoul Metro System. In the upcoming Delhi Metro Phase-IV project, the AFC system will fully accept NCMC, which can also be used in any city across the country. Travelling in the Airport Express Line of Delhi Metro currently requires you to collect a QR code from the counter. But in the future, such QR codes can be generated on your mobile phones to cross the gates. In the upcoming Delhi Metro Phase-IV project, the AFC system will fully accept NCMC, which can also be used in any city across the country.
