Nashik: Fire Breaks Out At Currency Note Press, Put Out After Three Hours

The fire was doused by 3 pm and a cooling operation was underway, he added. 

New Delhi: A major fire broke out in the premises of Nashik’s Currency Note Press (CNP) on Thursday, said a fire brigade official, quoted by news agency PTI. 

No injury to any person or damage to property was reported due to the fire and the flames were doused within three hours, the official said. 

The blaze began in a heap of scrap material stored on the CNP premises in the Nehru Nagar area around noon, the official added. The scrap material included ink containers and there was thick grass around the spot, he said.

"We received a call around 12 noon. A total of eight fire tenders including two vehicles of the CNP were pressed into action," quoted the news agency as the official said.

The fire was doused by 3 pm and a cooling operation was underway, he added.

Reason behind the fire is yet to be determined but no one was injured, the official told PTI. 

The CNP is a unit of the Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India Ltd (SPMCIL). The SPMCIL has another unit, India Security Press (ISP), nearby.
