Grenade Attack Leaves 6 Injured In Budgam District Of J&K

Militants hurled the grenade towards the joint deployment of 181BN CRPF and police in Pakherpora which exploded injuring ASI, CRPF constable and four pedestrians.

Srinagar, May 5: In a span of few days after a Commanding Officer of an anti-insurgency unit, Major and three others lost their lives in an encounter in North Kashmir's Handwara chasing a group of terrorists, two security men including a police officer and four civilians have been injured in a grenade attack at Pakherpora area of central Kashmir's Budgam district. This is the second attack in less than 24 hours in the district. Militants hurled the grenade towards the joint deployment of 181BN CRPF and police in Pakherpora, which exploded injuring, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) Ghulam Rasool alias Dilawar, CRPF constable Santosh Kumar and four pedestrians. The injured people were evacuated to Sub-District Hospital Pakherpora for treatment. Doctors at SDH Pakherpora said that they received six injured persons including two security men and four civilians. Two of the four injured civilians have been identified as Shafeeq Ahmad Najar and Irfan Wani. The doctor said that the other two persons are women aged about 40 and 50 years. All the four civilians were referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam Nagpure Amod said that a grenade was lobbed in the Pakherpora market. All Security personnel are safe. “2 civilians received minor injuries,” he said. Meanwhile, soon after the blast, a joint team of CRPF, police, and army launched searches to nab the attackers.
