Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet Launched At Rs 65.25 lakh; Gets BSVI Petrol Engine

Mercedes-Benz has launched the new C-Class Cabriolet in India with updated features, new colours and, more importantly, a new BSVI-compliant petrol engine that can also run on BSIV fuel. It’s also the first Mercedes-Benz petrol engine in India that conforms to BSVI standards while being capable of running on BSIV fuel. Earlier in 2018, BMW had upgraded all petrol engines in its lineup to BSVI standards.

The C 300 Cabriolet’s M 264 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine is capable of producing 258PS of max power and 370Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission (9G-TRONIC). Mercedes claims the C-Class Cabriolet can do 0-100kph in 6.2 seconds, with a top speed that’s been limited to 250kph. Expect Mercedes-Benz to introduce the same engine in the C-Class sedan facelift in 2019.

The C 300 Cabriolet is equipped with a 10.25-inch multimedia display for new generation telematics and a new steering wheel with touch controls that we’ve already seen on the C-Class facelift. The infotainment system supports smartphone integration via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets new Multibeam LED headlamps that were introduced in the top-spec AMG Line variant of the updated C-Class sedan. There are two new metallic paint finishes on offer - Mojave Silver and Selenite Grey - which are also available on the updated C-Class that went on sale in September 2018. But there is also a special paint option called Designo Selenite Grey Magno for the new C 300 Cabriolet.

Mercedes-Benz is also offering a service package for the updated C-Class Cabriolet which starts at Rs 67,000 for a two-year period. That makes the petrol-powered C-Class Cabriolet less expensive to live with when compared to the diesel-powered C-Class sedan, the two-year service package for which starts at Rs 72,000.

The new C-Class Cabriolet has been launched with a price tag of Rs 65.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Audi A3 Cabriolet and A5 Cabriolet are a couple of other sedan-based convertible that you can buy in and around the Rs 50 lakh to Rs 70 lakh range in India. The A3 Cabriolet is priced at Rs 50.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 150PS of power and 250Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, its bigger sibling, the A5 Cabriolet, is priced at Rs 69.24 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit that has a max output of 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque.
